The New Face of Car Sales

Image Where are vehicles advertised for sale at the moment?  Newspapers, noticeboards, dealership websites.  Leaving dealerships aside for the moment consider the individual buyer or seller.  Their options are either place an ad in a newspaper, which is expensive, or place an ad on a noticeboard, which is cheaper but gets a lot less coverage.  Both methods involve a degree of hassle and expense.

To place a noticeboard ad the poor seller must devise an ad, print it out, get in their car, battle across town, pay for the ad to be displayed, and pray that the right buyer happens upon their ad in the midst of the confusion, then battle back across town.

Even dealers without a website will have to get off their backside to go and post ‘hard copy' ads around the place.

The alternative?  Go to www.kenyacar.com , register, login, and post as many ads as you like.  There is even a ‘Getting Started' guide to download. And get this...it won't cost you a thing!

There are a couple of car sales websites available to Kenyans but only www.kenyacar.com offers users the chance to take control of their own ads.  Kenya Car allows users to publish/unpublish ads, respond to enquires or leave comments and questions.  The ads are organized and searchable by price, model etc, meaning buyers can more easily track down the vehicle that suits them.

The ads can be viewed all across the country!

Did I mention that there is NO CHARGE for this?

By the time a hopeful seller has composed a noticeboard ad, printed it, and driven about shelling out cash, half a day has passed in boredom and frustration.  Buyers too have to drive from noticeboard to noticeboard working through the chaos, making notes as they go.

To post an ad on Kenya Car one does not have to leave the house or office.  It takes a few minutes to register, login and upload car details.  Buyers from across the country can easily find suitable vehicles so your (free) ad is not competing with irrelevant types of vehicles that are half overlapping your ad.

Car sales via noticeboards will become a thing of the past.

Paypal in Kenya
pplogo.jpg Did you know Paypal is now available for Kenyans?

What is Paypal?

Paypal is the biggest, most well known online payment system.  It is owned by Ebay, the biggest, most well known online auction system.  Ebay found that the majority of it's users paid fees and each other using Paypal so they bought the company and integrated it into Ebay.

Paypal allows users to send and receive money online.  This means ecommerce.  This is a big step forward for Kenya.  Unfortunately Paypal Kenya only allows users to create 'send only' accounts which mean you can buy, but not sell.
